Parentline is a national helpline for parents that offer support, guidance and information on all aspects of being a parent. Parentline is somewhere for a parent to get time and space to discuss a parenting issue (big or small) without judgement, to hear another point of view and to offload stress.
Parents can phone Parentline with all sorts of parenting problems. There’s no typical call; from new born babies to teenagers, all ages offer different challenges.
Parentline support is immediate. You don’t have to be referred and you don’t need an appointment. The helpline is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. If the lines are busy please leave a message – we will always phone back.
Very often a parent focuses so much on their child that they forget their own needs – Parentline is there for you – the parent.
Parentline facilitators have an extensive knowledge and understanding of the wide range of problems parents encounter; they will listen and guide you to help you find the answers you seek in a safe environment.
Post Natal Depression
Parentline is the only national helpline offering support to mothers with Post Natal Depression. We are there at the end of the line for you, the mother and your family. Mothers often find they can ring Parentline when they have a moment – when baby naps or somebody takes baby for a while. We give you time and space– Parentline will listen and will hear how you are feeling.
All Parentline facilitators have received extensive training in counselling and listening skills before going on the lines. .
Parentline can also offer face to face meetings, parenting courses; parents support groups and talks in the community.
